Cybersecurity: Protecting Your Small Business in the Digital Age
We will go over what basic cybersecurity is, the common risks small businesses face, like phishing emails, data theft, and ransomware. You’ll learn how to set up basic security measures, such as using strong passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, and securing your Wi-Fi network. We’ll also talk about how to create simple security rules, train your team to spot threats, and keep customer data safe.
The workshop will cover how to back up important files, check your security regularly, and understand the legal risks of cyberattacks. By the end, you’ll have the tools you need to keep your business safe from online dangers and reduce the chance of a cyberattack.
In this workshop, you will learn:
Cybersecurity Risks for Small Businesses: Small businesses are prime targets for cybercriminals due to their often limited resources and weak cybersecurity measures. Common threats include phishing, ransomware, and malware.
Basic Cyber Hygiene Practices: Adopting strong passwords, using multi-factor authentication (MFA), and keeping software up-to-date are essential steps in protecting against cyber threats. Additionally, securing devices, networks, and Wi-Fi access is crucial.
Data Protection and Compliance: Protecting sensitive data through encryption, regular backups, and compliance with regulations (like GDPR) is vital. Small businesses must also vet third-party vendors to ensure they meet cybersecurity standards.
Employee Education and Cybersecurity Culture: Regular cybersecurity training, including phishing simulations and clear communication channels for incidents, helps create a proactive security culture where all employees play a role in safeguarding business assets.
This interactive workshop will be led by Cory Boxall with TeamLogicIT, Attila Nas, WE AS WEB and Maneet Singh, Deputy CISO of Digital Realty
