Citing the impact on workforce availability, Chamber asks Board of Supervisors to approve study of the cost, availability of childcare services in Loudoun

 
Loudoun County, VA –The Loudoun Chamber of Commerce has thrown its support behind the proposal to have County government conduct a Childcare Needs Assessment, to determine whether the cost or the availability of childcare services is having a negative impact on Loudoun’s families.
County Supervisors are currently considering a proposal from Supervisor Juli Briskman to use $250,000 in Federal American Rescue Plan Act funds to finance the study.

“The Loudoun Chamber of Commerce recognizes that lack of safe and affordable childcare options not only burdens working parents, but also the businesses and nonprofits that employ them and the customers and clients they serve,” said Chamber President and CEO Tony Howard.

“Recognizing the negative impact, the lack of affordable childcare options has on workforce participation, which is at an all-time low in our nation, both the U.S. and Virginia Chambers of Commerce have also made it a priority to advocate for increased attention, and funding, for expanding childcare programs,” said Howard.

Howard clarified that the Loudoun Chamber is supporting the childcare needs assessment and remains open minded about supporting any recommendations that may come from the assessment.
