Monti Mercer is a Virginia native who is a trained neuroscience researcher and science humanitarian focused on sharing basic biomedical research and science education. He has led the department of Community Relations at HHMI’s Janelia Research Campus since 2018. This department supports the campus’s philanthropy, outreach, and public engagement initiatives to expand scientific education and charitable experiences within the local community.

Monti’s servitude includes appointments as a Trustee for Dulles District with the Loudoun County Public Library, a Board Director with the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, and the Chair of the Board of Directors for Loudoun Cares. He regularly volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, is a local professional a cappella singer, a member of Leadership Loudoun, and was included in Loudoun’s top 40 under 40.
